Schools and Youth

Victoria Police is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of young people throughout the state.

Growing up is challenging!

Young people generally feel overwhelmed by the pressures placed on them by different groups within society. Friends and family particularly, have expectations that often conflict.

Everyday, police see the impact that this has on young people. It is a responsibility of police to take positive steps to address some of the problems Victoria's youth face in society.

Child and Youth Strategy 2009-13

Young people continue to be over represented in crime statistics, as both offenders and victims of crime in Victoria. There also is a disproportionate involvement of young people in serious collisions on our roads in comparison to the rest of our community.

The Victoria Police Child and Youth Strategy 2009 - 2013 will provide Victoria Police members with a framework to identify, develop and apply activities regarding young people for the coming four years.
