Pina Gilmour - Police Custody Officer

Pina Gilmour: We are a part of the Victoria Police team. They’ve been very welcoming in accepting us into the police stations and encouraging us to do what we have been trained to do.

The eight week training, that’s more than ample time for PCO squads to get ready to go out to the stations, cause in that eight weeks they got the two weeks at the station. They will learn a lot out here at the Academy.

You have got the feeding, the aspects of cleaning and keeping your workplace like the kitchen clean, restocking everything. You’ve got the computer work, looking at paperwork when it comes, in making sure the dates are correct, updating on the computer, checking property, checking hold to comments, so there is a variety.

I think it would work really well with females who do have school aged children, with early start early finishes, late starts, you know late finishes, before and after school care, someone else to bring the kids home.

I think it’s great.
