Charges following North Melbourne sexual assaults

Melbourne SOCIT detectives have charged a man following alleged sexual assaults in North Melbourne last week.

It’s alleged a man pushed a woman into an alley off Silk Place and attempted to sexually assault her on 13 April.

It’s also alleged a second woman was pulled to the ground and sexually assaulted on the same date a short time later on Hawke Street.

The 35-year-old St Albans man was arrested in West Melbourne.

He has been charged with multiple offences including assault and sexual assault.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 28 April for a bail application.
