Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are at the scene of a fatal collision in Teesdale.
It’s believed a child was struck by a vehicle as he was walking to a bus stop on Bannockburn-Shelford Road just after 8am.
CPR was performed by a passerby before paramedics arrived but sadly the 6-year-old boy has died at the scene.
The vehicle involved left the scene but was located at an address in Teesdale.
The driver, an 84-year-old Teesdale woman, was interviewed by police and released pending further enquiries.
