Police investigate Frankston assault

Frankston Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an attempted robbery and assault in Frankston on 21 January.

Investigators have been told a man was sitting out the front of his workplace outside a shopping centre on Cranbourne Road around 5am when a Mercedes pulled up beside him.

Two males got out of the back seat and approached him, one armed with a hammer, and demanded his money.

Both of the males then started to punch and kick the victim before dropping the hammer and searching his pockets.

The victim managed to ring a bell on a door outside to raise the alarm and the two males went back to the vehicle and drove away.

The 40-year-old was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s believed five people were in the offending vehicle which is described as a black Mercedes AMG station wagon.

The offenders are described a s being aged between 17-20-years-old, wearing all black.

One was wearing a face mask, the other was wearing a beanie and a Kathmandu puffer jacket.

Detectives have released images they believe can assist with their enquiries.
