Thomastown double fatal

Police are investigating after two people died in a collision at Thomastown this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to reports a motorbike and car had collided on High Street about 12.50pm.

The motorbike rider and their pillion passenger, who are yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.

The occupants of the car did not sustain any serious injuries.

Checks have revealed the motorbike was stolen from outside a Gale Street address in Brunswick East on 14 April.

The exact circumstances surrounding the collision are yet to be determined and investigations remain ongoing.

Investigators are particularly interested in any dashcam footage that captures the motorbike, which is a black and red BMW that had no registration plates, in the lead up to the collision.
