Advice that I would give someone wanting to join the academy, be open.
Be open minded to what you're going to learn. It does take time. That's okay.
But just know that you've got your squad, they’re there to help you. You've got the instructors also helping, so they're there to help you.
It can be challenging at times, but it's definitely worth the challenge. It really helps you find who you are.
That definitely made me happy with the decision I made to join Victoria Police.
I want to help people. And it doesn't have to be, you know, someone's injured, it’s the little things.
I'm helping somebody's loved ones. I would hope that somebody would be helping mine when they needed help.
A regular day at the Academy is different every day. It's been amazing to learn everything.
Wrapping my head around, all the policies, procedures, law, also the physical side. Learning our tactic options, learning different situations, you're going to be put in not every situation will be the same.
And then when you go out to placement is when you really start building on that. But here it's yeah, it's really laying down that foundation of preparing you for what's going to come.
Everybody is in the same boat, they really make you welcome and really want you to succeed and you really feel that.
The thing I'm most excited about is just starting my career. It's getting out there, putting everything I learned, into action really taking it in and seeing where it takes me.
