Announced February 2004
A $1 million reward is on offer for information over the suspected murder of Sarah MacDiarmid over 20 years ago at the Kananook Railway Station.
Sarah MacDiarmid, then 23, was last seen walking through the car park of the railway station near her Frankston home about 10:20pm on 11 July, 1990.
She had alighted from a Frankston-bound train which she caught from the Caulfield Railway Station and was believed to be walking to her car.
Sarah MacDiarmid was reported missing by her parents on 12 July, 1990 when she did not return home.
Forensic testing of the area where her red, Honda Civic was parked, has led detectives to believe Sarah MacDiarmid was murdered.
However, an extensive investigation into her disappearance has not revealed exactly what happened that night or where her body was taken.
Homicide Detective Senior Sergeant Peter Harrington said someone in the community knows about the murder, and urges them to come forward with information.
“We are urging anyone with information to come forward to help bring closure to the MacDiarmid family, particularly Sarah’s parents Peter and Sheila who have suffered through these 20 years not knowing what happened to their daughter,” Detective Senior Sergeant Harrington said.
“We know someone in the community has information, someone can help solve this crime, and we ask them to phone police.”
A $1 million reward, first offered in February 2004, is still available for information leading to a conviction.
We urge anyone with information about Sarah's disappearance to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online.
