Victoria Police and Monash University have partnered to develop the Bachelor of Criminology and Policing.
This course offers a unique pathway to becoming a police officer.
About the Bachelor of Criminology and Policing
The Bachelor of Criminology and Policing is a three-year program.
You will complete part of your Bachelor of Criminology in the first two years. In your second year, you will apply to be a police officer and complete your Diploma of Policing.
The Monash Bachelor of Criminology and Policing is the only course of its kind in Australia.
Bachelor of Criminology
During the first two years, you will complete core units of the Bachelor of Criminology.
This course starts in person at Monash University, Clayton Campus. You will learn about policing and criminal justice in a local, national and global context.
In your third year, you will complete the last two subjects of this course online.
Diploma of Policing
In your second year of the degree, you will apply to become a police officer through the standard Victoria Police recruitment process.
If you are successful in your application, you will be admitted to the Victoria Police Academy in Glen Waverley in your third year.
You will complete your Diploma of Policing while training at the Academy. You will be paid as a recruit from your first day of training.
While at the Academy, you will continue to complete your Bachelor of Criminology units online.
After passing your training modules, you will graduate with a Diploma of Policing, and as a police officer with Victoria Police.

During semester one of your first year, you must complete a Voluntary Disclosure Form (VDF) and Preliminary Medical Enquiry Form.
We review these forms to ensure that you are eligible to submit your police application in your second year.
