The Service Delivery Transformation Command (SDTC) was established in 2020 to review, modernise and improve the services Victoria Police delivers to the Victorian community.
Why we are improving
We are committed to ensuring our services that keep the community safe meet the changing needs and expectations of all Victorians.
Since 2015 we have received considerable public investment to support police in keeping the Victorian community safe. This includes:
- extra police
- modern facilities
- improved technology
- new laws
- state of the art tactical equipment.
At the same time, demand for our services continues to grow and change due to factors including:
- population growth
- changes in offending
- the heightened threat of terrorism
- growing public expectations.
We know our services need to adapt and improve so that we can meet these challenges and keep Victorians safe, now and into the future.
How we are improving
SDTC is reviewing how we deliver our services so we can modernise and improve the way we work:
- internally
- with the community
- with our stakeholders.
The result will be:
- more efficient and effective use of Victoria Police resources
- improved accessibility to our services for all Victorians
- a more visible police presence in the community
- a greater focus on crime prevention, public order and community safety
- greater trust and confidence of Victorians in our services.
We have always been the people’s force, which is why our commitment to a visible police presence and strong connections to our community remain front of mind.
We will continue to provide many of our traditional policing services but also ensure we are well set up to respond to new and emerging challenges, and the needs of the Victorian community.
Our goal is to be able to deploy the right people, with the right skills and equipment, at the right time, to anywhere in Victoria.
