If a threat is called in, fill out as much as you can. This will assist Victoria Police in the investigation.
If a threat is called in to your work
Make sure there is always a copy of the checklist near the phone or saved on a computer near the phone.
In the case of a telephone threat:
- remain calm
- have someone else call Triple Zero (000)
- keep the caller talking for as long as possible
- listen carefully to what they tell you
- complete as much as you can of the checklist
- once the call is finished, do not hang up
- do not try and call them back
- close the store
- do not let anyone in the premises except emergency personnel
- get to a safe place
- help others get to a safe place.
Report a phone threat
If someone is with you, get them to call Triple Zero (000) while the call is happening.
Otherwise, call Triple Zero (000) as soon as you are able.
When emergency services arrive, give them your filled out copy of the phone threat checklist.
