Report farm crime, suspicious activity, or stolen property offences on your rural property.

The sooner a crime or suspicious activity is reported, the greater chance police have of identifying the offender. No concern is too small to report.

Types of farm crime

Farm crime refers to any crime on a farm or an associated place that impacts farming operations and livelihood. 

These crimes include:

  • property offences such as theft of livestock, machinery or equipment
  • damage to property, machinery or equipment
  • activism and actions that threaten bio-security
  • illegal hunting. 

How to report farm crime

If you are in immediate danger, need to report a crime in progress, or require immediate police attendance, please call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

If there is no immediate danger:

To assist police, you should:

  • record time, date and location information
  • record details about suspicious vehicles and people
  • take photos, if it is safe to do so.

Victoria Police has dedicated Farm Crime Liaison Officers (FCLOs) with expert skills in investigating livestock theft and farm-related crime.

Additionally, Divisional Firearms Officers (DFOs) work in Victoria Police regions to support the firearms community and ensure safe storage and use of firearms.
